Migrant labourers from various states have been working in Tamilnadu for many years now. They have almost become a resident here being familiar with the local language and the places here. They contribute much to the economy and the infrastructure of the state, especially the urban areas. But they are denied their basic rights including minimum wages. The law that talks about migrant labourers is not implemented successfully. Without a proper ID card and a ration card, the life of migrant labourers is miserable.
